East Coast?

Guys I hate to sound stupid but ive looked everywhere with no answers. I have always admired the trophy truck but living on the east coast have never been around them. My wife and I are wanting to plan a trip to see the 1000 and was wandering if you guys could give alittle info on were to stay and fly into. Also I was wandering if there are any eastcoast events such as off-road racing that you know of. Has anyone from the east coast ever built or even raced off-road?

where on the east coast? TREC is pure go-fast racing, located in Indiana.

Guess you didn't look too hard

RCrocs at Rausch Creek Offroad park, Pa http://www.rauschcreekoffroadpark.org/
Line Mt. 4 Wheelers in Dornsife, Pa http://www.lm4w.org/
ECORS http://www.ecors.com/
TREC at the Badlands Offroad Park in Ithica, In http://trecwithus.com/

I have raced at all but ECORS and they are very well run events that are in a lap format that is better for spectators. Line Mt will average about 125 racers on any given weekend. Plus 50 quads, dirtbikes and SXS. Then Sunday there are dirt drags and short course racing. Even kids races after the big events.

Pick a race that is close and enjoy!

Where are you located? If you're in the south east ECORS is by far the closest racing series to us.

If you're wanting to race you can get into it fairly cheap by racing class A, or if you are just wanted to watch the action they are a blast to watch.

Sorry, I just saw where you said you were from SC. You're right ECORS is the closest series to you. Come check it out this season.

And Legendary Excursions has a place in PA and FL where you can drive vehicles that have done the Baja 1000. I did it in PA a few weeks ago and it was a lot of fun!!

Most of the stuff mentioned above is more truggy (rockcrawler hybrid) stuff. The closest thing to trophy trucks, on the east coast, would be the Traxxas TORC Series that has had a stop in Charlotte, at the dirt track, for the past two years. Unfortunately, their 2012 Charlotte race happened back in April.

Best bet to see the 1000, for a first-timer, is to fly into San Diego, rent a car from a agency that allows crossing into Mexico(have to pay for extra Mexican insurance), cross in TJ, and head down the scenic toll road to Ensenada. Hit contingency, the day before the race, which will be a big street party, where you can walk right up to any race vehicle and check them out. Early that afternoon, head east over the mountains, on Hwy 5, to San Felipe. On your way to SF, be scouting locations to watch the race. Morning of the race, head out to your spectating spot. Be prepared to stay there all day (food, water, beer). Bikes should come through late morning and trucks should come through early afternoon. Make all hotel reservations way ahead of time (like now).

An alternative to driving to San Felipe would be to just stay in Ensenada and drive out Hwy 5, to one of the racecourse crossings, early on race day. the problem with this plan is that Hwy 5 is a freaking mad-house on race day, so you would have to leave super early. Hwy 5 is a curvy mountain two-lane.

I hope to go, if I can find someone to co-dog with me. If I go, I will be 100's of miles south of the border on race day.

As far as I know, no one from the east coast has ever even heard of offroad racing.
