84-96 2WD F-150 Beams
We are getting a F-150 to be used as a dezert test vehicle. All of the ones we have looked at have bent oem beams. I was looking at a photo on a 93 of the front beam where it clearly states on the beam, not to heat, weld or otherwise modify. This has me slightly concerned as this truck is for company use and I do not want to risk it as I have heard the cast beams are failure prone.
Camburg has beams for $1800, I am wondering who else makes replacement or extended beams. $1800 is about 30% of the price of most of the trucks we are looking at. Any ideas? btw, I searched this forum and found nothing.

The only thing those cast beams are good for is door stops. You are correct, you cannot bend or weld on them.
Look around for some early beams - they are forged and can be welded, bent, plated.

you can pie cut the I beam weld gusset the hell out of it .Also make the radius arm and I beam all one piece the radius arms shoud be about 5feet long and Chromoly is the only thing for suspension we have broke all sorts of DOM .we have also cut the end of the ibeam off and slide into 2 pieces of tubing and the built the arm look for e250 ligh duty ibeams the have 4 piston caliper and bigger kingpins and are 5 lug . Some early 80 f150 had Steel I beams . there are all sorts of options we finally go some d44 spindles off a 4x4 and hub rotor bigger bearings .and made a ibeam with bolt on spindle

I am doing more research.
Does newline have a website? Apparently the truck in the Photo had the beams modified by Daves Performance center?

The beams you have pictured are cast. If you want to make some on your own youll need forged which come on 88 and earlier i believe.
if you want to buy a kit there are a few companies to go with... http://www.giantmotorsports.com/products/index.php http://www.camburg.com/fordsibeamf150p.html newline mcniel offroad |
