what i.r.s are you buggy guys using
i'm lost on the rear end stuff as far as independent suspension . i need to know what my options are as far as what came in what vehicals and what width from wm surface to wm surface. what ones are good what ones are crap. cv vs mini driveshaft. kinda lost. i'm used to 4x4's so the dune runner thing is new to me. i'm building a sandrail out of a s10 blazer. it will be street legal in florida so i'm still figuring out what needs to be done for that . any help would be welcome.
engine will probably a 6.0 vortec with a th350- shorter than a 4l80e if not it will be a dual turbo 4.3 with a th350 also need info on tires. what ones are good for street hookup and good for sugar sand. looking maybe for 33x15 on a 15 inch rim. has anyone done a s10 sandrail mid engine before. if so i'm gonna need help on this one. |

Most mid & rear-engine buggies are using trans-axles, but you could also use any regular third member by cutting down the axle-tubes and having shorter axle-shafts made with whatever CV bolt pattern you want to run. I know they're available for Ford 9" and D44 applications, but it would be pretty easy to have them made for anything else.

so lets say i have a vette i.r.s. system i could bolt it to the s10 frame extend the a arms say 6 inches either side and run a set of custom shafts . tub the body keep the engine forward of the cab and rework the front suspension . reinstall the ifs goodies in the front with driveshafts and a long travel setup with coilovers. ...... alot of work but a one of a kind ride. any questions or comments?
