Thing Motorsports Class 7 takes Second in class at Baja 1000

Written by Team manager/driver Tony Cortes:

We raced the Thing Motorsport #701 Class seven to a second place finish in the 1000. Driver of record was Shannon Dierkop with additional driving and co-driving by main fabber Tyler Poppert and also Ronnie Snyder, Trevor Poppert, Frank Thing and myself.
The experience was 33 hours of madness that I wouldn't trade for the world. The truck performed almost flawlessly, and everyone on the team put out an oustanding effort.
The siltbeds were miles of hell. The course went through spectacular country with enough variety to please (or challenge) everyone. Brice (totalimmortal) , Buddy and Kevin rounded out the chase team. We had one flat and were stuck at least six times in the awful silt beds. The on-board winch saved our asses at least three times. About race mile 600 we lost second gear and also developed a trans cooler leak from a cracked cooler tank. In spite of these problems we were able to keep it running strong the whole 1040 miles. We also had to swap out an alternator at race mile 940.
Unforgettable experience for everyone on the Thing Motorsports team
Anyone have any shots or video?
