Thats a good article Lance. It definatly brings back some memories for me. I chased down there several times in the early 90s. Every time was a great time. I just picked up a Bronco to build as a class 3/and chase rig. I'll be there next year. GOOD JOB RD

It was a very interesting writeup. Congrats of your finish. Will there be a 2007 race in your future? I'd love to be able to do that. Several years back, I had the opportunity to work at Ivan Stewart's shop, and passed because I was still seeking my degree. Sometimes I wish I had done it. I'll need to track down some of the Colorado teams and see about helping them out.

Maybe a writeup on what it actually takes (logistics and prep) to run the Baja? Also what kind of expense is involved to run a race like that (beyond the vehicle cost).

I'm in Detroit now, then to Orlando for Performance Racing Industry trade show, then back to SoCal, back here to Detroit, then to Sacramento on the 22nd. I'll be in P'ville xmas day through the 28th.

And I'll be relaxing and drinking damnit! Fill me in on this "brewery" young pup... us old school former NoCal old bastards know of no such thing.

Cool write up Lance. So what ended up causing the rig to not go over 3000 rpm??

I have been surfing your site for years but only found it necessary to register today. The reason I did is because last month I was given the rare opportunity to participate in the Baja 1000 with Shaffer Off-road/Pirate 4x4 Team. In all my years of dreaming about it, I have never been to or let alone be apart of an event like the Baja. I went into it knowing only two other team members. For that reason I just had to post and say how much I enjoyed the experience. I met Twenty or so new people from all over the states with one goal in mind, Finish the Race at any cost. Luckily for our team the cost to finish was probably minimal compared to others. After meeting all the team members and witnessing their ability first hand, I am sure no matter the cost it would have been spent. This goes from the team owners all the way down to folks that showed up to simply transport bodies to the Finish Line. Again I just wanted to say thanks for letting me participate and call when you need assistance again.
