My Faux-desert racing Xterra...

OK...got the Hanneman fiberglass fenders painted and installed now...truck is coming along nicely...will be nice to eventually get a front suspension the works as well as the truck looks (in my opinion) Paint on the fenders will look closer to the gloss of the rest of the truck in a few weeks when I can buff and polish them after everything has cured....Too bad the closest thing to a desert I have is the local sandpits...

It's cool... a few things:

Ditch the "street locks" rims

If you're serious about desert racing, ditch the ARB bumper and make/have something made out of tube which will be lighter. Why would you go for the weigh savings of carbon fiber if you're going to cancle out the weight savings with such a heavy bumper

Ha. Xterra with arb bumper and 33's... Your normal everyday xterra.
Xterra with arb, 33's AND flared fenders--prerunner/desert racer.

At least they're painted.

The other poster is correct...while I love the look of desert racing vehicles I live in NH...not exactly a lot of deserts around here...If I was SERIOUSLY contemplating turning it into an actual race vehicle I would gut the interior and put in a cage to start...but I'm not...it sticks to the slow and steady stuff at offroad parks like Paragon and Rausch Creek and others...bead"looks" were just to put steel (rather than alloy) wheels on the truck--and I liked the look, and the fenders were in part some weight savings but also to allow for larger tires and travel without banging into the stock fenders...

No way...not even close to a knockoff...far better...better approach angle, better build, American made, great powdercoating, less expensive than an ARB...no contest between the two...

This needs to be moved to Nissan tech, which would still be a stretch.

The lines of the hood (not to mention the color) don't match up very well with the fenders.

color was done on purpose...not supposed to match...I just like the khaki color...and with fiberglass you are not going to get a perfect fit...just not going to happen...

Looks good for being 3000 miles away from a desert. O.T. The second best thing I like about N.H. is it's scenery. The first is it's motto.....
