King shocks

I am planning on the near future on ordering a set of coilovers and bypasses for the 1450 truck I am building. Right now its in the air between Fox and King but that isn't the question, the question is what is the difference between King's Race and Prerunner series shocks? Is it simply labeling or are they built differently? I looked around on their site but couldn't find any thing substantial explaining the difference. Thanks, Josh.

There are some differences in materials and lengths. I know the seals are different, and maybe the shafts. The race series has 7075 billet parts, prerunner series is 6061.

The hot tip is to get the new 3" prerunners, and have them put in the race series seals.

Are you building a 1450 style truck, or do you actually plan to race down here?

Crazy as it sounds, yes I do plan on racing in MDR/SCORE and the such. Most likely not as much since I am over 2500 miles away. Plans are building the truck to 1400/1450 class spec and if I at least race once then I have met my goal.

There is talk of setting up some local races since more and more "prerunner" style trucks are being built in Alaska. We have some places to run fast sort of like a desert except being that they are glacier beds.

The above link was considered biased by some. Do some research and draw your own conclusions.

Are you researching and posting on dezertrangers.com where all the 1450 guys hang out?

You will find tuning and replacement parts to be VERY expensive from King, but their race series shocks are comparable with the other shock manufacturers as far as quality.
