Glad to see fat girl was not the heavy hitter in the group. She's going on a diet before Barstow. To think everyone was worried about the" light weight Wrangler"

Are most of the Jeepspeeds running 2" or 1.75" OD cages? I am gathering parts and information to build a 93 XJ and one of my concerns is being SCORE compliant for the Baja 1K. Based on the 2006-2010 rulebook, >4K lbs must be 2" OD DOM tubing. If I recall, I think the Jeepspeeds that I have seen were 1.75" OD. Any input or advice before building? I would like to use 1.75", but I don't want to have to redo it.
Are these weights wet, with spares, tools, driver & co-driver, etc.? Last edited by Dusty Booger; 02-08-2007 at 08:39 PM. |

Good to know. I am pretty sure that I could get the rig under 4K dry and without drivers, tools, & spares. Based on the Rule Book, on the long open courses such as Baja, the weight is not "Race Ready". Are you running 1.75" tube on your rig? If I recall from Baja, I think Fat City and the Shaffer rig you were in are 1.75", but I am not 100% sure.

Ours was also loaded, fuel, 2 spares, and driver and co-driver @ 200+lbs. each but thats how it races so 4550 is an actual race weight.
1-3/4 tubing, but we were grandfathered in.

My old cherokee was originally 2.8. I swapped a 3.4 in it 9 years ago or better when the swap was no soo common. Headers, Edelbrock Intake, 390 Holley, and stock exhaust and it was smokin all the 4.0's in our wheelin goup... Mine was a 5 speed, but would have loved an auto for Jeepspeed type racing....
Don't discount that 3.4 V6... Lots of potential...
