Jeep Pre-runner build

I thought I would post a link to my Jeep Pre-runner build in the General section. The build really moved more towards desert racing vs. rock crawling during the last year. I don't want to have it moved as quite a few people in the General forum are following along that might not check this forum.

Anyway here it is. /forum/general-4x4-discussion/449557-old-classis-gets-upgrade-triple-bypass-install.html I plan to use this Jeep for fun, but also to pre-run this year in Baja.

PreRunners don't do backflips on backdoor.

Scott,

It's not leagal, but if you wanted to bring it down, I'm sure they would let you race JS3 while it's still in it's infancy.

Its too bad it isn't legal. It is along the lines of what I want to do with my CJ. Unfortunately it can't race.

Would it be like a Jeepspeed sportsmans class or something? I would love to get it out there & get some drive time before my XJ is done.

I hope you're refering to a jeep other than his white TJ.........cause that one may take a while!!

Just kidding.......we go the fire put out early and we've almost finished the cage!
I guess I should finish that.......and maybe do those bumper thingies......I don't know

JS3 is a unlimited jeep class. The rules are more relaxed. smaller group.
But there is a j 10 truck that races with a 360 and LONG arms that is fast..

Heck it would be cool to see you out there just wave when you pass me in 1706..

The TJ should be back up and running any time now. (It is getting a blinged out Goat1 cage) We are almost at the point of powdercoat and wrenching.

As for the CJ, I am still collecting parts. It is going slower this time because I want to build it exactly how I want it. The motor is scheduled to hit the dyno any time now.

If the company hits up Moab, I'll be there. Otherwise I don't think I have the vacation time.

Scott,

What gear ratio are you running in your axles and t-case? Also what transmission?

Thanks.

Frank, I am running 5:38. I would have gone with 5.14, but at the time I ordered the 3rd member, that was the weakest gear that the True Hi9 had.

The transmission is a TH350. I believe that it has stock gears, but Randy Ellis built this, so I really don't know.

The T-case is an Atlas 3.8.

When I originally bought the Jeep, it had 4.10 gears, & an NP205 T-case. Randy used to leave it in 4Low for racing/pre-running. I am trying to use this Jeep as both a rock crawler & my pre-runner, so I geared it for that. I intend to pre-run in 2 or 4Hi and use the 3.8 Atlas for crawling on the rocks. (FYI: The tires are 37's)

Gordon,

Several issues, but the main one is the motor. It is running a Chevy motor. There would also be issues with the chassis. The main chassis was built almost 10 years ago out of HREW. I have replaced significant portions of the cage with DOM, but there is still alot of HREW in the Jeep.

HREW would be acceptable for JS3, the issues would be the motor and the lack of a full oem frame. Both are required. I thought about trying to build the CJ for JS3 but my frame is too far gone for that. Which is why it is scheduled for full tube.
