San Felipe 250 - Not going to be the San Felipe 250...

From SCORE's website:

SAN FELIPE RACE IS BEING MOVED TO A DIFFERENT BAJA VENUE
February 26, 2007
Due to irreconcilable differences between the City of San Felipe and one of the San Felipe Ejido land groups, the race is being moved to a different venue in Baja. SCORE deeply regrets any inconvenience this may cause, however, this situation has absolutely nothing to due with the past or present conduct of SCORE International. We will announce the new venue location as soon as final agreements are obtained.

Speculation says it will be in Ensenada or Mexicali.

Sweet, I built a little church back in the early 90's outside of Santo Tomas, I'll still have a place to stay. If its still standing that is.....

word on Race-dezert is that all or most of the rooms are already booked up, and lots are planning on getting a refund on the reservations in SF and then getting the same room cheaper the week before and just going riding.

Plans were to be in San Felipe for Spring Break on Friday night this week...break dancin' in the Foam Pit at the Crocodile...this changes everything now...

Prolly Monday afternoon or Tuesday...dang 5-6 days in Enslaw-naw-da is ALOT dude---generally I can hang there for max three days and I'm done...It's close to home so I'll see and keep in touch...stay out of the Paris delicatessan and the shower at the Hott Foxx unless Camo is with you for backem' up...

Any scoop on what the course is going to look like yet?

We will be in San Felipe scouting some rock crawling trails and wanted to catch the race on Saturday. If it comes far enough inland we might still.

Check out the top of Matomi and head north to Azfre. Bart Dixon and I found a few great canyons when we where pre running the 05 1000. I have wanted to go back down just to rock crawl that area, that is until I found Nirvana I mean Catavina. That place has some great stuff and the hotel is 2 minutes from BFR's!

Info is the course will begin at Avenida Ruiz and not run in the river bed due to the traffic closure issues... then onto Ojos Negros and to Tres Hermanos out to KM 77 crossing the Hwy over to Jamau down the Goat Trail to Valle T heading across the Llano Colorado road to the Erendira beach for a finish at Santo Tomas with a grand total mileage of 215 mas y menos...of course with the stipulation that the final mapping has yet to been completed...

The key is that the motos will be finishing when the pack of trucks and cars are starting so the finish was moved to Santo Tomas. The finish has happened in Santo Tomas previously, but one thing to take into consideration is that traveling into and out of Santo Tomas is gonna be very difficult on race day...besides the race course, it's one road in and one road out and generally very slow because of the truck traffic.

- This Just In -

AP Newswire, San Felipe, Mexico- Internationally known website owner Lance Clifford was behind the ruse that caused hundreds of competitors to completely miss the San Felipe 250.

What started as drunken antics with mysterious strangers known only as "camo" and "DesertBull" turned into a windfall for Clifford as he took 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the race.

Clifford posted on his internet forum that the race had been moved to a different location, and all competitors took his word as Gospel, not bothering with external verification.

When asked how he managed to finish in all three top slots despite driving only one vehicle, Clifford said, "There wasn't anybody else here, so I just ran the course three times. Suck it!"

It wasn't a total loss however for the confused drivers from across the American Southwest. A pit crew member that was found naked and inebriated in an Ensenada alley who understandably wished to remain anonymous had this to say; "Shit, we all just come down here to get loaded. Nobody remembers anything anyways. We'll just show our wives pictures from another race and make up a story."

I setup these video-blogs for "Team Alloy USA", "Pirate4x4 Racing", "Sohren Racing":

http://alloyusa.blogspot.com/
http://sohrenracing.blogspot.com/
[ there is a video from last year's San Felipe 250 @MM17, whoops ]
http://pirate4x4racing.blogspot.com/

[ in above sites, click on upper-right icon to goto the iTunes video-podcast. Connect your video-iPod, download videos. Carry around video-iPod, show videos to friends, great PR/Marketing Tool ]

It was all done in anticipation for San Felipe, but now the Baja 250 is an Ensenada Boring 250. Been-there-done-that. For the Pirate4x4 blog, there's a video from MM51 (just before Tres Hermanos) from last year's Baja 1000..the Boring 250 will go by the same spot.

Here are some videos from past SF250 ('05 & '06):

Dustin,
Maybe I'm living under a rock, but why are you going down there? Just curious of your involvement. If you/lance need a place to stay I could probably hook you up with a nice camp sight south of town.

BTW: thanks for the Red Bulls, I'm up to two a day!

fyi: thanks for not defining the Hott Foxx, you never know who is reading this schtuff.
