I am not sure yet. I want to leave tuesday night, depends on work. How is the runner? I should bring my tools and double check all the bolts to make sure they are tight. I'll see you there.

Getting back to reality after a great week at the Hammers. The car ran well until RM40, the end of Sunbonnet when we broke the pitman arm. Richard Gauthier and Team NAXJA lent us a new arm and we had it fixed by 3:00 but the next check was closed so we called it.

Thanks again to Jefe and Dave for putting on such a great event. Thank you to all of the volunteers for your hard work. And thank you to everyone to came over to tell us they supported Friends of Johnson Valley.

I have two questions.

1: Where were you with the patch/plug kits?I could have really used them!

2: How much Money did Camo and I Tally from the crowd Friday night for FOJV? Beyond the $1000 bounty donation?

OK, not great but not bad either. The first 12 miles or so had these nasty motorcycle whoops that were short and close together. When we pre-ran the that section on Monday we decided to keep it conservative. Sean Dunn helped us with some shock tuning the day before so it was as good as it was going to get.

Another black text post! You are sneaky

Rick,
Congratulations on your great finish! If we didn't have our steering issue those patch/plug kits would have been gladly left for you.

I will ask President Dave on the total. Thank you to you and Camo for helping the cause.

Did you have problems after the end of Aftershock? You pulled over right when I came up behind you. Just thought you were letting me pass. Then you suddenley pulled back onto the course and scared the crap outta me! I swerved, jumped off a little mound sideways then peeled out before the bottleneck to the goat trail back down.

Brandon,
I never made it in the car. We broke at RM40 and I was to get in and drive at RM42. Howard and Earl broke a rear brake caliper somewhere on Aftershock and probably pulled over when they heard it banging. Visibility with that spare out back was poor at best. Hopefully you had your Depends on.

Bummer We'll have to get together and do some wheelin in the off season

You know, it's funny about the visibility. I couldn't see anything besides my own dust in the rear view. I almost blew the horn at your car, but it pulled over as my co driver was reaching for the horm button. Didn't even think about the tire blocking the view.

More wheelin is always good! PM or give me a call when you are ready.

Funny thing about the horn, with all of the fans going and the engine noise, they probably couldn't hear you either.

I saw this pic from Aftershock:

Seven weeks after KOH and we still have the itch to race so we entered MORE's ORAF 500 in the Sportsman class. Jim at MORE is going to start us in the rear with Class 3. The laps look to be about 65 miles each and it will be a day/night event so we have to put the lights back on the buggy. Other changes from KOH we will be running a smaller tire (probably 35s), remove the winch and we need to add a blue running light next to the rear amber light to hopefully avoid the big nerf.

For anyone interested in running V2R and your car is ready, this might be a good test for you. There are over 100 cars registered right now. I figure we will be slow like a Class 9 car and there are over 30 registered in that class now. If you can make it on May 23rd, we could use a hand or two in the pit or a remote pit. Here is a link for more info:

We are running that race, I will start in the Jeepspeed and finish in a class 1 car. We have a two car pit right now, if you want to pool resources, let me know and lets set up our pit/camp together. We'll have the big rig and all the remote pits covered with the Dust Junkies!

I was hoping to convince you to add a "13" to the Izzy KOH car and join us in the fun.

I'll give you a call.

Sounds good Scott! I'm not sure if Sean Dunn will be ready with his new class 1 car for the race. If so we might have even more resources.

FYI: Due to the number of entries (150+), Jim at MORE is looking to add an additional 8 miles to the course. So for us, its an additional 48 miles of racing.

Quote from MORE site:
Quote:
Because of the number of cars 150+, we have a meeting with the BLM Monday afternoon to see if we can add 8 more mile to the course it looks good and the number of laps will remain the same as posted. starting order will be discided after approval. Thanks
