I know you are not done yet, but you should really have the seat mounts attached to the cage if you are not planning to.

Yea they will be tied into the cage in several places. I'm also going to add one more floor plate between the two 1 1/2" seat mount tubes, then triangulate two tubes down to it. All the floor plate will be tied together under the cab with tubing as well. Thanks for the input, I can use all the help I can get.

Absolutely, I’ve been lurking in this forum, and other forums, for some time now. I’ve downloaded about 500 pictures and read hundreds of post. Still much to learn.

I started installing my new full traction 6" kit today. I've done a lot of reading on this kit and in my opion its the best long arm kit for your money.

Started with the LCA mount. I wanted to renforce this mount and tie it into the cage mounts as well as the front spring mount on the rear axle. I fabed some bushings to weld through the frame then weld it on both sides of the frame rail to help spread the load.

I then bolted bosses to the frame.

The whole stiffener is removable and is tied into the front leaf spring mount with a 1/2" bolt. I plated the front leaf spring a little, but I plan to replace these mounts with the Poly Pro mounts after I get some seat time.

I have a new found respect for anybody who has welded on these unibodys. :o

I know most Jeepspeeds run 9" rear ends, but I'm trying watch my $$$. Once again after I get some seat time I want to build a 9". But for now Im building a 8.8 exploder. I'm running the stock LS carrier to test but plan on running C-clip eliminator axle kit, spool and 6.00 gears for the first race. I did change the ring in pinon to a 4.88, but that was before I found out I could get 6.00 ring and pinon for the 8.8. Heres some pictures.

A major weak point for the 8.8 is the axle tubes, so I welded them.

Welded on some Rough Stuff spring perchs.

Adding my truss.

Started on my rear suspension. I bought some Ruff Stuff U-bolt plate and welded the lower rear shock mounts on them.

I'm using Rubicon 9/16 U-bolts over the FT 1/2 u-bolts.

Shocks will be FOAs 2 1/2" 10 stroke front and 14" rear. 2 1/2" diameter with 4" strokes FOA bumps.

I hade to build my own bump cans. The FOA cans where to short to fit all the way through the floor.

Cutting the bump hole into the body. Cleaning the frame for plating.

Rear bump/frame plating

Wow, those shock mounts are cool. I've never seen any thing like that made yet. I'll have to check those out for myself.

looks like you have done your homework and are off to a great start.

the only glaring issue I see is the tranny cooler. no way no how will that be adequate for racing. even with the fans I don't see it getting the job done.

look at the coolers on other auto jeepspeeds.

a possible junk yard cooler might be the superduty one somebody posted in another thread. it will still need a shroud and high cfm fan

Well actually I planned to use two of these cooler in series. They will be mounted in the passenger side rear window. I’m planning on building a shroud and mounting one fan per cooler.
Are you concerned about the size of cooler just not being able to get enough air flow, or the volume (GPH gallon per hour) of oil the cooler can move? I’m a little worried about the volume of the oil that can flow through each cooler.

Bump cans installed and frame plating.

Bump stop in cab.

Bump stop out side cab

I have heard horror stories about the snap rings on bump stops failing and the bumps flying out and bouncing around the cab on a big hit. So i made some positive stops in the cab.

Both stops and rear axle.

Started plating the front end.

Front Passenger side.

Front Driver side.

Steering box mount

I tied the out side plating at the steering box to the inside plating by welding 1" .120" tubing through the frame rails.

Passenger side.

Driver side.

Thanks.

What dimension are the cell, how many gallons does it hold, and how much is "cheap"?

Working on the steering and track bar. I'm using 3/4" heims with 5/8" ID high misalignment bushings.

My tie rod, drag link and track bar are made out of 1 1/4 DOM .281 wall tubing. The ID was 11/16", just right for 3/4" -16 Tap.

I'm using 5/8" bolts for the all the steering. I drilled out both the spindles and the pitman arm for a straight 5/8" bore.

I tried to use the FT track bar, but it just wouldn't work with the crossover steering. I cut the bushing end off the FT bar and made my own.

Steering and track bar.
