As a very happy TrophyLite owner, I am sorry that Greg is taking a new direction in his life. Greg took TrophyLite over in the worst economic times possible and did a terrific job growing the series and the brand. He has sold several new trucks over the two years, more than anyone else building EcoTec based trucks by many times, and has had an average of 10 trucks race in every race since I started racing with them two years ago. I only wish the very best for Greg and his family and thank him for his friendship and support.
Business, especially this business is tough, and sometimes it is necessary to make unanticipated changes when the dollars and cents don't make sense - it was that time for Greg, and I support the decision.
As I understand it; when Matt Scaroni sold the TrophyLite business to Greg a few years ago, they carried the sale, which is typical in business transactions. They carried a note and retained a minority position in the ownership. I do not pretend to know the details of the transaction, but I do know for a fact the Scaroni family has always had a major interest in seeing TrophyLite succeed and have been very supportive of the business and TrophyLite customers.
When Greg decided to step down, for reasons only he really knows, the Scaroni's were faced with taking back the business, and because they really want TrophyLite to continue to grow, they sought out a new partner who could run the business and take it to the next level once again. Several potential partners were considered and the individual and family that will be stepping up to the helm is a terrific choice - when announced, they will have my full support.
All of the key players have been in open communication with the TrophyLitte sponsors, and the sponsors are on board and excited about the new direction.
I don't expect any significant changes in the near term, the TrophyLite schedule is firm and the commitment and contracts with the sponsors are all intact.
As for the rumor about payouts being late, it is true, they are late, but they will be received. I have been in the money in every TrophyLite race that I have race, except one (I crashed out), and was in the money in the last race and the 2011 seasons points - I am not concerned. It is no secret that cash flow is the number one reason for business struggles, but the money from sponsors, is available and being paid out.
Thanks again to TrophyLite, Greg Foutz, the Scaroni Family, and my fellow TrophyLite owners and competitors!
TrophyLite has been everything I expected - Fun, competitive and affordable!
Looking forward to 2012, starting with a win a Parker!!!!!
