1996 cummins Transmission
Time is kind of a factor here so I can't search all day for the answer.
What all is involved in controlling the 47RE (I assume thats whats in a 96 dodge) Whats the difference between the 4x4 model and 4x2 (ELECTRONICALLY) ie is the computer different for one vs the other. Basically I might get a deal on a 1996 cummins for my chevy re-power but its 2wd so I wanted to see what all I needed and what I can use from this truck if I were able to pick it up.

Your best bet is an adapter from the CTD to your 4L80. Much less work. If you are stuck on using a dodge tranny pick up an RH model. They can be controlled very easy. If money is your issue for keeping the RE then this is not the project for you. Also the RH tranny made it into 96.
