was wonderin what the differance is in the dodge and ford 271 an 273 transfercase besides ford having fixed yoke?really all i need is the housing so i wondre if my dodge internals will fit in the ford housing?? any help greatly appreciated..thanks Josh

dodge is slip yoke ford is fixed yoke.
swap the out put and the tail housing and dodge becomes ford and vice versa. thusly you can also make a 271 to a 273 by swaping the shift plates and taping holes. the inputs are different too but are also interchangeable. |

The mounting holes are indexed slightly different between the Ford and Dodge cases. The case will sit at a different angle if you mix brands. The input pocket bearing depth varies from Ford to Dodge as well, but you can press it in/out as required.
