As far as the torque converter goes, you can just remove the weights from the 360 converter and use it. You will also need to notch the bell housing for the crank sensor. Apart from that, I got nothin'.

A '92 model would have had a 46RH, which is hydraulically controlled, not computer controlled. You should be fine. Ditto on all Crash said. The mounts from the Magnum truck will not work but the Magnum block still has the old style mounting points on it also so you will just need to find the driver side mount bracket for a 4WD 318 truck since the 340 and 360 engines use a unique bracket.

Ok scratch all that. Sold the truck and bought a 90 ramcharger 4x4. Planned on stealing the tbi to stick on my 360. But then got the idea of just throwing my tons at the rc. My question now is stick with the od tranny or swap in my 727. The rc is a 318. Guy is unsure of the miles but odometer quit workn in the early 90s

I'd just keep the A518/46RH. It is based off the 727 and is reasonably reliable. The NP241 that's in it is decent and an NP205 will fit it. The OD is a bonus and should last with a good cooler and locking it out when not needed.

Yes, the 518 is slightly longer than the 727 but not by much.

Ok i was curious cuz i had a 1991 power ram with a automatic with od. It was 4 wheel drive. I tryed using the front d shaft in my 85 rc with a 4 inch lift and it was extremely too long. The power ram was not lifted at all.

the issue with the 518 is twofold:

1. length (by another 8 " ) so driveshaft shortening is needed - easy
2. The OD housing is significantly bulg'ier than the narrow tailshaft of the 727, so minor floor pan mods might be required (this is true for a swap into a car, but a truck might have adequate floor height)

A 4WD 518 is NOT 8" longer than a 727. More like 2" or 3" at the most.

On this train of thought, Can a 42rh be built to hold up behind a 350-400hp 5.7 hemi?

I don't know for sure, but it's not 8". The 727 has a long tailshaft/adapter, and the o/d is just in it's place. I'd bet it's only a couple of inches at most.

The difference between a W series 727 and a W series A518/46RH is 5".

Per RCC member MadMax:

727 = 26-1/4"

518 = 31-1/4"

Well, I'll be damned. Never seen two side by side so I guess I need to get my eyeball recalibrated.

Well i am goin to have to put my 727 in after all the 90s tranny fluid is black as coal and barley wants to pull itself unless its in the low side. On the bright side the 318 purrs like a kitten and dnt leak a drop..Not bad for 500 bucks i guess
