1972 100 4x4 questions

Thinking about buying a 72 100 4x4 for $1000 from the original owner. Its in fairly good shape has some surface rust and ablown out rearend. here are my questions ........... what rearends are a direct bolt in for me? Im thinking about putting a chevy 14 bolt in but will have to move the perchs and I would like to avoid that. Also it has a 4 speed in it what kind of 4 speeds did Dodge put in these years? Any pros and cons on this truck? Im a chevy and toyota guy these trucks are foreign to me and I have maybe seen 5 of these trucks on the road my whole life, Im 23. I think this would be a cool truck to build its a short bed with a 318 and a front dana 44 and 205 case but like I said I need info on the 4 speed and rear end. Eventually I will go 1 ton and a 440
thanks for any info
Dennis

That would be a 435 tranny with divorced 205 tc. A single wheel dana 70 out of a one ton dodge is a drop in, any 3/4 ton dodge d60 the same cept for driveshaft lenght in either case. Not sure if 71 and back has same spring perch width, could go out and measure one of each tomorrow for you.

A 14 bolt FF out of a 3/4 ton truck will work (at least it did on my buddies '77), the spring perches are close enough. A 1 ton 14 BB will require relocating the perches.
