9.25

Anyone running a lockrite or limited slip in the rear of their 9.25? I want to put something in there but i think a detroit is a little too much money for me. Any opinions?

I ran a LR in the back of my '81 TrailDuster- 35s and a healthy 360 (Performer RPM cam & manifold, mild porting) without any problems.

I ran one for about 2 years in my 9.25 before I switched to the 60/detroit combo..

It was great offroad.. But onroad it sucked ass... Even with 116" WB and auto, it was has miserable road manners. Pop, bang, lurch, change lanes...

Just the nature of that LR beast. It's has a lot of slop in it and engages hard..

Not sure this even matters to you or not.. But thought I'd relay my experience anyway..

I switched to the Detroit, and it's like (nearly) an open diff on the street compared to the LR..

I'm in NO WAY dogging the LR product either.. I run one up front and am happy with it. Just relaying road manners with the 9.25.

Quite a few people i know run them and love them. I would not run one in a fullsize with tires over 35s though. They have all told me the road manners sucked like SolidAxleDurango said.

I have a No-SLip in my 9.25" (power trax's quieter locker)

I love it, quiet, smooth, far better road manners then the stock trash lock (which sucked in my opinion, refused to provide any traction off-road, on road would randomly lock up when it got hot).

And of course off-road, the No-slip acts justlike a Detroit, 100% locked, fwd/rev all the time.

Strength seems good so far, ran it with 35"s for two years, just stepped up to 37"s but dropped a lot of weight that was on the rear axle.
