74' 318 won't stay running

I recently picked a project dodge and am having a bit of a problem with it. It is a 74' with a 318 and electronic ignition. It ran fina a while back, but started running real rough all of a sudden and recently died on me going down the street. It is getting gas, it has a new coil and seems to have spark when turning over. What it is doing is starting, reving up then dying. Will start up almost always, but won't run past 2 seconds of starting. I was told this could possibly be some resistor or something. Any ideas?

Thanks for any input.

Could be the resistor, they go bad, just replace that.. but to make sure the gas is going into the engine, I would see if it will stay running on starter fluid. if that isnt it, I would check the power at the resistor, make sure all the wires were good, etc.. it could also be the ignition module.. but normally with that it will not start at all. I also had a problem with my truck starting when the regulator wasent working right... basically my truck never ran right until I re-wired all the wires around the ignition box, replaced the wires going to the coil (could be your problem, mine were bad) Replaced the Coil Wire, the Ignition module, the resistor, and added a Relay in the mix of wires going to the ignition module. Now that made a big difference, just it takes about 3 seconds after you turn off the truck for the engine to turn off (not dieseling). Hope I helped some.. and if you do replace the ignition module, I HIGHLY recommend Mopar performance parts. I started out with a cheapie, blew it up, then put in a napa one, blew it up, put in a used MSD one, blew it up, put in a mopar one and couldnt kill it.
Once again, I hope I helped.Garrett

Turned out to be the ignition control module.
