dodge vs chevy d60

i got a 76-80 d-600 front dana60 and was wondering the differences between it and a chevy d60, other than wms and spring perch width. somebody asked me if it had a 2 peice shaft on the long side, is this true? i don't know because it didn't have shafts, backing plates, spindles, calipers, rotors or hubs. it does have the carrier and 4:10 gears, knuckles, tie rods and steering arm. it will be going under an 89 suburban. can i use chevy axle shafts?

Is there an article on a 60 rear axle? Need to identify an axle we got in the shop that i think someone has switched some parts on. Its a 60 pumkin with i think some other tubes and hubs and shafts. Did any rear 60s come with a 30 spline rear axle shaft? thanks

If i understand correctly the stud holes on the passenger side perch are different width apart. on my dodge 60 the studs are about 2.5" apart. anyone know how far apart they are on a chevy 60? Im curious as to how hard it would be to convert chevy spring pads to work on a dodge 60.

2 piece pass. side axle is only on the '94-'02 Dodge 60 fronts with CAD, not all of the '02s had CAD.

Lots of D60 rears came with 30 spline shafts. It is really rare to find one that has 35 splines. Older rearends to about mid 70s came with coarse spline shafts.

Chevy long side inner 660182-6 35.07"
short side inner 660182-5 17.67"
stub (outer) 40955 12.00"
Dodge (internal hubs, pre-balljoint) long side inner 660182-2 35.20"(will work in Chevy)
short side inner 660182-1 15.98" (won't work in Chevy)
stub (outer) 40955 12.00"

So why does everyone keep telling me its the long inner that wont work?

i know a guy with a 1 ton chev 4x4, i should just drive over to his house and measure the tubes from the pumpkin to the c's, then measure mine. its simple, right in front of me and my tape measure doesnt lie. i can post the result if anyone wishes.

The inner long side shafts are the same. I have a chevy shaft in my dodge axle.

Inner short side shafts are different.

Stubs are the same

Every thinge else is interchangeable except for steering arms.

Passenger side spring perch studs are smaller in diameter on a dodge, so the two axles require different u bolt kits.

CAD actually started in 1985 and went to 2002. Later Ramchargers had CAD and ramchargers stopped in 1993.
