I've never seen this before.

Does this feature make the R&P or the housing somehow unique?

Bottom line is I want to put the 3.54s back in without a crush sleeve. Does Randy's or somebody sell a solid spacer?

You should be using shims, not a crush sleeve.
A stack of about .060" shims to start with.

It came apart with a crush sleeve. I'm sure it wasn't in there by mistake.
