Dakota winch bumpers

Alright, I've done all the searching and everyone recommends Hanson for dakota bumpers. They look great, but after checking hanson't new site they don't make them anymore.
After all the talking of unsatisfied people and Kennesaw Mtn. bumpers they aren't even an option. Mainly wanting to see what people have done for later model Dakota bumpers, or even some good close up pics of the hanson bumpers so I can make my own version for my truck.

Already tried to drum up interest with ARB, and the closest we could come was modifying a late model taco bumper. For that kind of money I would rather just bolt it on.

SO how about it guys, lets see some Dakota winch bumper pics

I think reunel makes a bumper for the dakota/durango's. www.reunel.com
Here is a link to a craigslist ad that has a pic of a durango with one on it. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/car/526373183.html

After dealing with kennesaw mtn. (who were fawking buttholes on the phone) I decided that as soon as funds are aviable i will be designing my own as well, similar to the kennesaw mtn. but with less tubing, kind of like a cross between the Warn wrangler and the kennesaw mtn. bumper.

The bottom end of the kennesaw

with the top design of the warn

EDIT:just my 2 cents

I've pretty much decided on copying a hanson bumper. Just love the way they look. Its on my DD Dakota, but I can't stand not having a winch on anything I drive

I've got a rig for when the going gets tough, but people in my city can't drive... 2 days after I got the truck it was almost totaled by someone turning in front of me

grumble grumble.

you suck

WOuld love them man, have actually been going through your pics trying to get a good image to build on, but measurements would sure sweeten the deal. Have a good idea how to copy, starting with the 2x4x3/16 tomorrow bending a copt of the front portion. Using 3/16" for the rest, really detaile pics of the uprights, the mounts, and the skid section would make this almost too easy

I'm not sure if his web site shows it, but I'm 99% sure Alien Patrol makes a winch bumper for your Dak. It would look very similar to mine:

Give him a call and see. FWIW, mine with ther pre-runner bar and a 3" body lift mod was $1250.00 shipped.

Sorry, but I can't justify spending 1250 for that. 800 sure, but I wouldn't pay more than the cost of a perfectly new arb bumper. Wish they made one. Got the steel sitting here, copying the hanson out of 3/16 with a 1/4" winch plate and mounts. Need a good pic of the skid portion, and the mounts for the hanson

You don't have to be sorry, but I think you missed the point on the price. Shipping was almost $200.00 and the body lift modification was over a hundred as well, so your right there with the $800.00. Also comparing an ARB bumper with an AP bumper isn't exactly comparing "apples to apples".

Good luck with your project though.

Sean saw me posting these up and said he could model the bumper and have the plate laser cut. Give us a call to discuss if you are interested.

I have built 2 of these and will be building some more. I haven't figured out the winch mount yet but there should be plenty of room to mount one. This one is in the for sale misc section.
