Np271 sye

Got an '04 cummins 2500 with the np271 t-case and the slip yoke is puking out of the seal (again) on the back. Does anybody make a sye kit for this t-case? I don't want to waste any more money if this will happen again in 20k mi. Any info would be appreciated.

I know this doesn't answer your question, but I have been wondering the same thing. Don't Super Duties have NP271's with fixed outputs? If so, I wonder if you could swap the outputs?

Exactly what I just found out. I just spoke to a guy from Transfer Case Express and he said the Ford np271 fixed yoke will bolt up. Only thing is the driveshaft has to be shortened/lengthened with a slip joint added which any shop can do. I'm going to go for it. Pulled the t-case out today... I'll post more pics later.

Edit: Noticed the female input on the t-case only has 23 splines. The output on the rear of the t-case has 33 splines.

Please do, that would be awesome! I hope it goes smooth for you. I am definitely adding it to my list now.

All done. Took the case to TCE shop and they threw in the new output shaft and tailhousing and only took an hour. Now I just have to get my driveshaft lengthened about 6" with a high angle cv added.

The flange is from the 2004 and newer Ford 350's with the 271 tcase. Time to bench press it back into place.

Bye bye slip yoke...

What all was needed? When you said they threw in the new "input" shaft, did you mean "output" shaft? By the way, thanks for the info!

Sorry, the output shaft was also from an '04 and newer Ford F350 as well as the output shaft tailhousing. Same internals except for the bearing and seal on the flange end of the tailhousing.

Won't you also need to get a slip of some sort put in your rear shaft?
