Ok, I have been noticing that lately it is taking a few seconds for my truck to go into reverse. Then when it does, it bangs HARD. What is wrong? I am getting the belts adjusted hopefully soon.. but what is going on?? Also, what kind of tranny do I have, a 518-A, or??? thanks. Garrett

I just had my 96 ram tranny rebuilt. It was doing that for quite a while.. 6 months or so... otherwise it seemed ok. One day it just started hitting really high rpm's before shifting and about 4 days later it was done. I had my friend fix it. I guess my tranny was pretty jacked.. it had gotten so hot that the metal had turned blue. I guess the tow package wasn't so good. Sorry I couldn't answer any of your questions. Just wanted to share my experience.
