Yup, the guys from SteelSoldiers have meets there once a year I think to wheel the big green iron.

How did the hub break? Did you knock the knob off or did it fly apart? Did just the base break and were you able to save the rest of it? Just curious as to what I can expect with mine, lol.

i was going across big rocks not even in the throttle and it just went pow every peace but the spring broke.

yes some are tight like the blues but some are wide open.yea 3 wheel drive all 3 days but it did good i never needed a pull just had to give it hell.

I have seen this happen alot... more so on the Jeep/Scout external hubs. You should go drive flanges and be done with it!!

Not me, I need mine to stay streetable. I'll probably swap to the later optional internal hubs and 35 spline Warns. If I win the lottery I might go with Dynatrac hubs.

now i know why the hub broke so easy,the wheel bearings are shot and the spindle nuts were backed all the way off.so i guess the wheel hub put presssure on the locking hub witch broke it into peaces.i just hope my spindle isnt trashed.

Ouch. My driver's side hub acted like it didn't want to turn when I first got the axles. I took it apart to check it out and similarly the nuts had backed off. The bearings were ok in mine and I just torqued them to spec and so far it's working ok. Good to know I may have avoided some breakage there.

I have a 60 thats sitting waiting for a home.. If you wanna grab some selectro parts off of it let me know.. I will be in woodbridge at the garage all weekend.. Its right off rahway ave at the end by the quicktrip.

Looking at your build makes me get to work on my rig.

im not sure if im going to hubs or flanges yet but what do you want for them?get the thing done so we all can go wheeling.

You really did a number on all the nice body work. I was hoping it would last a little longer. Hope you can get her straightened out and do some re enforcing. Probably won't be the last time.

the pass side isnt to bad it just ripped the spot welds off so i just have to push it back into place and weld it solid.

If your gonna go hubs just let me know and come get em.. It will be a while before i do anything with that axle.. Van needs to get a windsor 410 stroker, monte needs to get floors and vette brakes and cleaned up. Then ive gotta get another daily driver..

By the time i get around to that 60 i will probalbly use it for parts or a rear steer project and run flanges..

Thats one bad ass ramcharger man. I found a body in a junk yard thats about the same year as yours. It has a little bit of rust in rocker panels but other than that it seems to be in good shape. The motor didnt even look like it was in too bad of condition. Im going to see how much they would charge for it and it might become my new project. You definitely made me fall in love with these trucks.
