29 spline NV4500 to 29 spline Np205 question

Ok, i have a NV4500 from a dodge 29 spline. I found a 29 spline np205 that i want to buy how ever, it has the texas 8 bolt pattern like my old 10 spline np205 and looks like this pic below

Here is the pic the guy sent me.

This is the 8 bolt Np205, i thought that the 29 spline NP205's looked like the front of the 32 spline chevy NP205 like this one below

32 spline GM np205

So i need to know if i buy this Tcase from the guy that i showed in the first pic, Which adapter willl i need need to make it work, he says all 29 spline Np205 tcases have the Texas race 8 bolt pattern.

Looking for some info for sure so i can make a desicion, today thanks guys

Ok but are the dodge 29 splines all the 8 bolt style and then an adapter to round or are some just round 6 bolt that will mate right to a nv4500 with no adapter

The picture of the t-case he sent you is missing the race track 8 bolt to round 6 bolt adapter like the picture posted by the other guy...

You need to find that adapter and then purchase the 29spl coupler because the NV4500 has a male output... you can find the coupler on http://quad4x4.com/New_Process_NP205_Parts.html

Thanks mike!

Any idea where i can find the adapter?

Is 600 bucks a good price for a rebuilt 29 spline 205? New bearings and seals

For 600 dollars the case should be gold plated and include the adaptor and coupler!

I am not sure where you are, but you can frequently buy complete old Dodge trucks for $600.00 here. The married 205 started in 1980 I believe, before that they were all married 203's.

I'd be interested to hear more solutions how to mate a NP205 to 29-spline NV4500...

I'm slowly collecting parts for my project, I have a 1995 12v CTD motor & NV4500-29 spline diesel version. The matching tcase is a pain to find and expensive

The NP205 behind the 1989-1993 Dodge CTD w/getrag 5 speed will bolt directly to the NV4500 no adapters required...BUT I've seen prices range from $500-800 for a used case.

At this point I'm watching for a rusted out 1st gen cummins w/5-spd just for the tcase and will part out the rest.

I've considered trying to find a crawler box that would act as an adapter, then I could use any NP205 I want, which can be had cheap (50-150), but who offers a 29 spline input to match the NV4500?

Heck as a cheap? alternative I've considered a Spricer 3053A (2.5 ton truck 5 speed) and matching 2.5 ton divorced transfer case.

What type of NV4500 did you start with? Was it a 29 spline unit? If so did you change the output on the NV4500 to a 32 spline to mate it to the chevy np205?

yes sir--only because i had it --i also have a clark 5 speed overdrive trans that the rear output was converted to 29 spline --i was an upgrade in a 92 dodge that had a getrag --i personly don't like a power sleeve --to conect the 2 --so the 32 spline set-up better to me --now it is a shorter set-up

I have a NV4500 from a 90's dodge with a 29 spline output, And i am trying to find a complete np205 with adapter that came from a Getrag, and yes they are MONEY and hard to find.

Not just any np205 will work otherwise this would not be an issue+

This another view of the adapter that you need looks like (plus the 29 spline sleeve):
(Not mine, just pics I have saved) It's the rusty brown piece on the left, 6 bolt round to figure 8 racetrack, like what MH4Runner posted .

From a 93 first gen Cummins powered Dodge truck.

6 bolt round flange that connects the two peace adapter together.

End that go's to the getrag 360.

End that go's to the 29 spline np205

The two 6 bolt round flanges that mate up. 29 spline drive coupler to the side.

Transfer case half of the adapter

Transmission half of the adapter

Drive coupler

I have a extra 205 and adapter if anyone needs it, and is close enough to get it.
$500

i got a 205 from a 93 cummins auto. had the case machined for the larger input bearing and bought a 90's cummins getrag/205 input gear and bearing. bought a new 29 spline coupler.

the only problem i had, there is no more input seal for the t-case. i just used sealant on the tranny/case joint. i drilled a large hole under the input bearing so the oil can circulate there.

Heartburn, I've been looking for a 29 spline 205 also but just as a replacement for the one in my 91ctd. If you have a large bearing 205 then you can buy the input gears seperate along with the coupler. Here's what I found on ebay. Not mine just trying to help.

http://motors.shop.ebay.com/__?_from...+np205&_sacat=

Notice the 29spline 205 for a nv4500 for a $1000.

I was going to go another rout.
98 nv4500, 29 spline.
to a 88 dodge np241 that was 23 spline input.
I had emailed the help desk at www.drivetrain.com
I told them what I want to do, and they gave me this part number.
MWTNP2412902-R 29 spline input your cost $139.00 plus S&H (dec 09 price, may not be the same now)
So that would convert my passenger drop np241 to work on the nv4500. Now the one thing I dont know is how the T case would clock bolted directly to the transmission but a clocking ring would fix that.

Now I never went through with it, I sold my 5 speed, so no 4bt swap for me. I have no idea if it would work, but It would be a really slick way to get your driveline together.

the 88 241 is very weak. at least the cummins ones are a 241HD. slightly larger internals.

for clocking, i just drilled new holes on the end of the transmission. if you clock it too much, you'll have to make a new crossmember. in my RC, there was just a slight clearance issue with my front shaft.
