moisture tape ?

Anybody ever use this stuff in place of heatshrink ? im a big crimp solder and heatshrink every connection kinda guy. but i've heard of some shops skipping the heatshrink using this stuff.. http://www.tapekits.com/productDetai...&productID=117

It's 3M so it's probably awesome and terribly expensive.

From the website, a 3/4 inch x 100 foot piece is $86.

Mebbe the shops were using brush-on-electrical-tape ?

Yeah the stuff is pricey but it works well. I use it for an extra layer of protection on certain connector bodies that are exposed to road salt. Haven't used it on battery cables, I think heat shrink tubing will seal better long term.

Looks like the same stuff you use on coax cable connectons outside. Very stretchy, seals up tight. PITA to get back off.
