CB radio

Ok, I tried to do a search for a cb that is weatherproof, has the PA feature and can get the NOAA stations. Anybody know of one?

different freq. not CB. The CB with NOAA is not the problem, it's the weather resistant. My vote get the cheap $60 cobra and replace when it get wet???

I run a midland handheld, but here in Kentucky, the hills will not let it get any distance like it had out in Texas. I am thinking about that cobra 75, but that can't be tweaked and peaked, only the 4 watts. Now an amp booster can be bought to go inline but that takes up room too.

Get a Cobra 25 WX (Weatherband) and put it in about 5 or 6 big ziploc bags, and run a waterproof external speaker, that plugs into the jack on the back side (Headphone jack). Speaker can be had for about $10 or so.

I happen to have a Cobra 25 WX for sale.

I really don't recommend doing this. It is electronics and it will get hot if sealed up in zip lock bags. It needs to breathe.

I'm thinking that Cobra 75 will be my best bet then. It's small and can be tucked away.

Do your self a favor and find a cobra 25. There is nothing flashy bout them but they are good radios. I am a Truck driver and have been around them for a good while. They have made the 25 foreverand a day. You can have them peaked and tuned and talk back for around 20 bucks from a good cb shop. If you ask around a truck stop some one always has on they want to sell. As far as one that you can leave out in the open cobra 19 but only because you awill have 30 bucks in it. 25 really are a good radio.

I bought a cobra 75, had a local shop help with the antenna setting. Took him a while to finally say he can not get the SWR set due to the radio itself being messed up. Luckily I bought it there. At first he thought his meter was messed up, so used nearly every one in the shop. After that he said sorry and refunded my money, sense they didn't have another one in stock. He did mention the 25 to me. We just could not find a good place to mount it out of the way. Hanging from the cage between the driver and passenger seat was the best option, but I thought it was too close to my head. If anybody has one mounted in their TJ, please post up a pic to give me some ideas.

I'm sure I wont be the only one to say this!! That radio shop doesn't know what they are doing!!

The radio was not the problem, the antenna and or coax was! You could plug the coax into a hundred radio's and it wont effect the SWR's..... The SWR meter is used to show whether the antenna and feed line are matched or not...

Sorry, they guy tried different antennas and cable before he said the radio was bad. I should have put that in there also. I don't know much, nothing at all about them so he let me watch. He then hooked up another radio to the original cable and antenna and it worked. That Cobra 25 they had. We just could decide on a place to mount it is all. Passenger side got in the way of the legs, driver side same. Couldn't mount it on the spreader bar on top of the dash due to it blocking too much of the windshield. He mocked up a quick bracket to hang from the cage, but I thought it was too close to my head. Yeah I know, deal with it. He said if I can think of a place to put it to let him know, they have a few of the 75's on order and will let me know when they come in.
