Question International DT360 turbo diesel w/ Allison 545 transmission PREFECT FOR A SWAP

I have a really nice dt360 and Allison transmission. This is heavy duty stuff!!! I am currently restoring a fire truck and the district I bought it from, had purchased this motor and tranny to go inside the truck... Well it didn't fit and they got tired of dumping money in the engine(they paid $4500 for the new motor and tranny) oops.

The motor came out of a low mileage 1993 school bus, it had less then 80,000 miles. The best part about it was the bus was taken out of service not because of age or use, but it had been side swiped. It was then stored inside, and since I've had it I also stored it inside.

Specs DT360
180 hp easily tuned to big HP, and for some bucks it'll turn 1000+ HP!
Inline mechanical fuel pump
T-4 turbo
New alternator
New starter
Remote mount coolant filter
Sleeved cylinders (not your typical throw away motor) plus this means an in-frame rebuild is possible

Allison 545
Clean tranny
Remote mount ATF filter
22,000+ GVWR (tough trans)

This is a complete frame section with EVERYTHING you need!
The radiator, steering box, leaf spring, frame section, wiring... It's all here.

They Dept was able to run and drive the bus prior to the drive train getting pulled. They said it started and ran great.

This is the engine that is prefect for a ford guy who wants to stay ford, yet do something really cool. You can look on the web and there are tons of people putting these into f-250 f-350, dodge & chevy.

I will ship it, no problem! But I won't give shipping quotes... I have no clue were to even start looking. Heres my zip 94903, I live close to Oakland and San Francisco.

I would like $2500 for all of it, if not $2000 for the motor and $550 for the Allison.

Thank you- Dan four one five 370-1447

All of these are made and designed by International Navistar

• 6.9L was in trucks from model years 83-87.
•7.3L IDI was 88-93.
•Then a half-year production of the 7.3L Turbo IDI in 94.
• 7.3L PSD from 94.5-03.
• 6.0L PSD from 03.5-07.
• 6.4L PSD from 08-10.

[And finally the IN-HOUSE Ford 6.7L PSD for the 11's.]!!!!!

Just a few facts!!! Haha

Comon None of those can be considered similar in class or potential to the DT360. it'd be like comparing the CAT 3208 to a CAT 3406E.

Sleeved Inline block with inline pump VS V8 throw away motors. always interesting some manufacturers are just hung up on specing the V8 thing .... wonder which distorts more when the screw gets turned up. Shame Ford didnt have the ability to see past their hangup on V8's and install the DT360 way back then. It would be a whole different market place and the pickup tractor pulls in the 90's would have been alot more interesting.

I wasn't comparing those to the 360, BUT they came from the the same brains who made the DT's and V8's. Thus if a Ford guy wanted a cool diesel other then a v8, but made from the same manufacturer... The DT360 is it!!!

Ford engines aren't FORD engines... They are IH-navastar engines chosen for certain truck models is what I'm getting. At least until 11.

Haha!!! This is pretty funny, thanks for the banter!!!! Glenwinkel is right on here, ford diesels aren't ford diesels. But Ford & navistar do seem to work pretty exclusively supplying diesels for the light duty fords. Didn't ever see a 2001 dodge 2500 with a 7.3.... And I sure as hell, have never seen a factory f-350 with a cummins

Go spend some time in Argentina you'll see them there.

even superduty's came with em.

That DT360 is a very interesting swap idea for F350's it really is a fantastic motor and close to the right size..... i'd take a dt360 over a 5.9 cummins anyday

I am restoring it, always wanted one. The only reason I got this one, is in the state of CA there are (VIN STOPS) and this truck is exempt from it. Plus in the advent I'd like to sell it I'll be able to make a sale to a CA resident, and they could legally operate it on CA roads in the commercial capacity. Pinerog... If you want to know more feel free to PM me.

P.s. Pinerog you can still keep a Ford a Ford, by taking out that IH Navistar 7.3 and dropping in a IH Navistar DT360. Heck the DT is already painted blue. HAHAHAHA
