258/t-5

I finally got around to pulling the 258 and T-5 from my 84 CJ7. They're being replaced with a 4.3L V6 and hopefully a 700R4 if I can ever find one. I'm keeping the Dana 300. The 258 ran fairly well until I wrecked my Jeep on July 7, 2001. It has 114K miles. There was no major damage done to it in the wreck (unlike the body). The pulley on the power steering pump was bent and will need to be replaced. It's only the pulley, not the shaft. The fan was destroyed, but the water pump and pulley are still OK, it would just take a new fan. The EGR valve was broken as well. It sat under a tarp for a year before I even started working on it, so all the pulleys have a little surface rust on them, and the linkage on the carb is rusty. Oh, most of the clutch linkage was wasted as well. All smog equipment is still intact.

As for the T-5, the clutch is only a couple years old and was working well. The bellhousing is a junkyard unit as the original was warped and had to be replaced with the clutch. The only problem with the tranny is the 3-4 synchro. It was grinding a little, especially when downshifting into 4th.

I have pictures if anyone is interested.

I don't really have time to mess around with shipping, so a somewhat local buyer would be best. A couple hundred dollars that could help offset the purchase of a rebuildable core 700R4 would be great, or a trade for a decent 700R4 would be fine.

I'd prefer to sell them together, but if someone else is interested in just the tranny, I'd say $200 for the motor and probably $100 for the tranny.

The tranny is gone. I still have the engine, but I have a gentleman that was interested last week before I went to Mexico for a week. Let me get in touch with him and if he's not interested, you'd be next. I do have the harness and the computer.
