E4OD in Nor Cal. - $250 OBO

out of '92 F150 w/ 125K mi.

I know it's far from a desireable tranny, but if you just want something cheap to get by with or looking for a cheap core......well there ya go.

Still works just fine, I just needed to upgrade since I now gotta use it for a daily driver. Does have the usual characteristic of 1 sec. delay going into reverse, but if you know anything about these trannies you already knew that .

As of the time/date of this posting it's in Tracy. Later this week it'll be at my home in Lincoln (greater Sac area). I'm not gonna ship this beast .

Best way to get me: (work) 916.785.0911 or tony.johnstun@hp.com
I'll try to check thread and PMs when I can, but doesn't happen every day.

Nope, U r wrong. I am hunting for an E4OD to change out with my NP435 when I put in a FI motor in my other truck.

When I bought the centruion, I thought it had an AOD too. It has has the overdrive overide button, a friggen huge ass pan, and a D21 shift pattern. I think its either an AODE, or an E40D. I think its an E40D tho.

Bump for ya

ahhh..... hmmm, I still think the centurian has an AOD in it...lol.

as for the override button, I think all the electronic trans with OD
have the button...

have you done anything with it yet?

Still got it ifin yall want it. I can get it down to Tracy no problem, just say the word.

As for determining AOD vs. E4OD, my understanding is that only the E4OD has the override button on the shifter, but I wouldn't take my word as golden. Don't recall the details of indication of AOD. Try a search in Ford tech and I know you'll get some hits.

And Yes, the pan on this thing is big. Measures something like 19.5" long and 12.75" wide, with about a 2x2 notch in one corner. (took some measurements on it so I could whip up my on "Ford special service tool" jack adapter) .

Here's all the answers.

Bottom line, on Beavis' 90 Centurion with the D21 shift pattern = E4OD. Also, take note of midway through 3rd bullet "diesel,......ALWAYS use E4OD's". Only one's you really gotta be careful of are '94 and later where you could have either the E4OD or 4R70W in which only real way to tell is to actually look at the damn thing. (measure pan).

I stand fully corrected!

I didn't think they (ford) used the E4OD behind a 351 motor.

--Sherpa

wishing I had a brand new F-550 with a 6speed in it.....

Well shoot, if I would have known THAT'S what you were basing it on I could have provided some immediate info since that's in fact what's in MY truck.

I guess we all know the gory details now.

I have the new long block installed into it. I got the old engine running by simply changing a few fuses. (They thougth it was the timing chain.) It didnt run that well, so I yanked it out. (the motor studdered like it had a bad valve) It had two rusted out freeze plugs, I am guessing it overheated and seized?? Beats me. I tore into it, all it needed was a valve job. The crank looked really nice, and the timing chain had ZERO strecth in it, the last main bearing had just a little bit of copper showing on it, and the cylinders looked OK. I am almost not wanting to turn this motor in for a core. (coulda done this for $500 instead of $2000+) Oh well, my goal was to not have to fool with this motor at all, so I am not going to look back. I put in a new MP3 palyer, speakers, and a small sub in it, now all I need to do is get the alignment done, get the motor finished. I still need to find a smoking deal on some new injectors ($50 each) and smog it.
