Lol, I don't think I would blame you for buying more equipment. Tools and equipment are great to have and can make fabrication much easier. The problem is when you run out of room to work because of all the equipment taking up space, lol.

This should be the last big machine that`s going in the shop. I should be able to place it without loosing to much space...

Made the front driveshaft today:

Also made a cover for the belt sander because it kept shooting sparks in my face:

Congratulations on all the news tool. The belt grinder you made looks awesome. Are you planning on keeping both the power hack saw and the horizontal band saw?

I can't wait for the first test drive video. I think you said earlier that it might be a while though.

Sorry, Face Book is gay.

More of the build, less on the gay.

Yes i do. The bandsaw can be converted into a vertical one in about 30secs. I use it mostly to cut the small parts and the power hack saw for the big things. It can cut pieces up to 8" wide...

Yes, it`ll take a while because i need to finish both cars before i can test drive it. Well, not completely finish, but with tracks and the articulated joint and all that stuff...

First i finished the seat mount today:

Then i started making some room for the mill. There`s a before and after pic each:

Then i cleaned all my new tools and stuff from the anti corrosion oil:

What top bit? The long thing on top can be pulled out to support a big mill:

But its not needed, I'm going to use it to build a vertical milling head for it...

? Change your horizontal mill to a vertical? Been looking for pics of a similar setup but I haven't found anything yet.

I`ll not change it to a vertical mill, i`m going to add a vertical milling head. So i can be milling vertical and horizontal. I`ve never seen pictures of it done the way i`m going to build it...

Started building the articulated joint today. I`m going to build this first before i place the radiator, exhaust and stuff...

The bearing for the left-right-motion will be made from a wheel hub. First i trimmed down the brake drum:

Was able to remove a broken bolt with my mill:

To determine the lenght of the joint i built a wooden template. Picture shows the max. 34° steering and the max. 34° vertical separation: .

Then i started building the articulated joint...

Further mockup, could work along those lines:

Tie rod ends for mockup or is that the final part?

rod ends would probably be stronger, but I can't argue against tie rods for cheapness and availability.

Just for mockup. But i think i'll use another concept if i figure out how to build a rotational joint...

would a type of 4-link setup work? just thought of the rear car as sort of a rear axle. just add in another pivot for any missing degree of freedom

Not much to show, just lathework to get the parts for the rotational joint ready:

Also bought about 400lbs of steel:
