Just recently picked up a shed status Iveco Z100. No engine or trans just a nice rolling box.
The guy I picked it up from grabbed the air cooled 5 cylinder diesel out of it along with the 5 speed trans to swap in to an excursion or something along those lines. So the plan is to re-power it with something that actually has some parts availability on this side of the pond. At the moment thinking something along the lines of an older 6bt with an auto trans for ease of shift linkage. One of the interesting things about how they assembled this is that the front cab section is steel with the rear body made of aluminium. Most likely there way of getting around the chicken tax, importing just the chassis cab and filling in the rest over here. Rust is minimal but as it was located in northern Illinois for most of its life there still is a small amount of work that needs to be done to the cab floor and cab steps.
The only real achievable goal at the moment because of the onset of winter is the cleaning of all of the mouse nest out of it. So far the toll is 6 feed bags full of mouse pee/nest insulation.
Since the original engine was air cooled an electric heater was used to heat both the cab and the rear cargo area. Sadly only the controllers came with.

How the rear started out.
Almost all of the mouse pulled out of the back.
And cab divider pulled out.
Still need to rip the headliner out of the front, its riveted in place. As well as sagging due to the massive nest occupying the majority of the roof.
Still no images. Is the site your using to host pics set to allow others to view your pics? If not that may be why they show up for you; but no one else.
How is the full van body attached to the chassis? If you're going to offroad then you might need to reconfigure how it attaches or box the chassis? so it can't move at all so all flex is in the suspension.
I will grab some more in depth pictures when I can but here is a shot of the frame that sticks out of the front of the cab.
My Iveco came with a round head light front end like the ones pictured below in this ad. But it was broken to the point of being unusable/not worth repairing.
Looking a little deeper it looks like there are four different head light set ups that these got over the years.
Ended up picking up a 2wd auto 12v cummins with 360k miles on it. Might use it for the swap, might just replace the front bumper, drive if for a bit and then flip it. It ended up being a lot nicer/usable then I thought it would be. It's crazy when you buy something with high miles and the thing is not just trashed.
On to how the frame is attached to the van body.
Most likely going to just box the frame to be on the safe side as there are a few promotional photos that I found showing off the flex of the chassis cab set ups.
So it's finally warm here. Well warm to the point that working outside does not suck as much. Ripped all of the floor covering up out of the front of the Iveco it was nice and wet.
Found out that a large section of the floor comes up!
This should make the 6bt swap much easier.
This is the section that comes out. Needs a little rust repair but not as bad as it could be and should be easy to modify if I need to make some more room.
I'm actually using the dodge as a back up car/truck at the moment. It's nice to have something that I can toss a trailer on and just drive. It's most likely going to end up under the Iveco as the cab is pretty badly rusted. But I am on the look out for a single rear wheel 4x4 3500 to steal parts off of as the dually rear end will not fit under the Iveco with out narrowing it to the width of a standard rear axle.
What’s the latest? I’m contemplating buying a similar van but want to see how yours is going (or how it went…)
