I can't imagine an RX-7 being very good off-road

the funny thing about fc's is that it really makes sense, mine has a 103 inch wheelbase, is a crewcab, and still has a 6-foot bed. unfortunately it also rides kinda funny and going up or down hills is frightening. i think the cab over design is pretty smart for an expedition rig because it doesn't waste a hole lot of space, but engine access can be a bugger. it is inside the cab which makes it nice, but you need really good insulation to keep it livable inside. plus even though i think the fc is awesome it's too bad it didn't get all the cool portal axles and such stuff that the unimogs and volvos got. i've seen expedition mog, volvo, and rover FC's and even some cool old camper FC's that were driven to alaska and back.

here is a cool fc site if you want to learn more

Why not get an expedition rig that can really move some gear? A little Tatra is FC and this one comes with a tow rig and a trailer....

fc's only stock drawback is the tiny 6cly that they use, same from the m715. 149ci i think. troys has a hot sbc in it, in the stock motor location.

the amount of kick ass shit dude had at this yard was mind boggling, everything, EVERYTHING!!!!! corvetts,fj40,fc,bellairs,chargers-pre 70!!!!, all kinds of real cars with real potential but if it wasnt a crapy compact from 80 or newer and you wanted to pull it yourself he would he would tell you to get lost. i very easily could have spent 5K there.

Given the money and inclination to go on an expedition type trip, I would probably start with a unimog.

I have always liked the Inter Acco 6x6, this isn't the best example, but it was all i could come up with in a hurry.
