Whats left of my 2nd rig from 13 years ago, when it was stock. Parked it in the weeds till 2 years ago, drug it out, and been workin on getting all the parts together for my 5th rig.
Still a work iin progress, and at the rate my finances are going, may be another 13 years before its done. Right now AMC 360, th400, doubler, and D60/welded 14b. Will have H.A.D. 1410 drive shafts soon, then it will actually drive so I can get moving on everything else. ![]() In case you wonder why so much clearance above the tires, it still rubs fully flexed...................... ![]() Thinking I might bob the ass later........ she does have a BIG ass............. ![]() Got everything for.... OBA, dual snorkles, XRC12 winch, full skids on the belly, and most the stuff for a home brew OBW. Also going in at some point, among other things ...... TBI, stroked 401 w/ full roller valvetrain, engle fridge, a pull out sunshade off of one side, swing down tire/jerry can/high lift carrier, and ............yep, a hot shower. Not to mention all the normal camping gear, tools, and spare parts. My estimates put her weighing in around ~5500lbs when done, before I load up any gear. Jim |

No build thread, yet, not a lot of stuff that hasnt been done before. Just putting a lot of tricks to use on the same rig. Figure I'll keep taking pics, and post a build when its rolling.

Fun part in gona be keeping it all lined up and straight when I cut the whole rocker section (full of cancer) and door sill plate out to do it. Jim |

Does a week on Dusy-Ershim in late October count as an expedition?

Going on an expedition is going away for a week or more in a place you have never been and most likely will never go through again, through tough terrain and remote places. Now just loading up the truck and going out for the weekend randomly is more of a camping trip. But I agree on the whole bells and whistles thing, but that's a poor stereotype created from expedition portal, I know whenever I'm gone for a week or two that I don't have much more then a cooler with food and a few crates/buckets. Just my opinion though, it's what separates the difference between camping and an expedition. |

He's just fluffing his story. There's several HEMTTs in private hands. Matter of fact, there's 5 MK48 power units for the PLS (a HEMTT variant) up for auction soon. I personally owned a MK17 unit that would have worked great with the MK48. But it just wasn't in the cards since the MK48's coming up are out in California.

Here is the link of how we built our camper. It took 5 weeks to build and about $7000. It is warm, stout and comfortable.

Here is my latest, dialed in for two people and it did good for a few weeks around Death Valley.
There is more to the bike than you can really see, the only thing left of the BMW is the engine/trans/swingarm/rear-end/rear-wheel/gas-tank. Took so much crap off of it that it's 100 pounds lighter. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

This is my 2007 JKU; gearing it more towards expedition now than weekend trail battle. Adding an Offroad Logic Safari Rack very soon.
