What's the top speed of that thing from the factory?
Will swapping out the engine as you are planning bump the top speed up?

Top speed is 60MPH even more with a favorable wind - the main reason for the engine change is that parts of Africa simply run out of petrol (sometimes for months) so old school diesel required......veg oil mix etc etc.

Yes it's a very sloooow build as I have other projects.

Here we have the inside....when original.

And when work in progress...

Rob Hardy of portal-tek.............I have communicated with Jez (here in the UK) for the brake disc conversion, but for obvious reasons wish to keep the PCD, can you help?

Only need the front brakes replaced.

yeah i think its possible. Our disc brake adapters are about 1" narrower per side that the stock 303 pieces. i have a adapter to take it back to the volvo 8 lug pattern. the only possible issue would be caliper to wheel clearance. I will have to check on it and get back to you.

To be honest the TT is struggling to attract the crowds it once enjoyed - Health and Safety have got involved and the Police have clamped down on the high jinks behavior the TT was famous for.......VERY VERY sad really.

radius on our volvo disc brake adapter kit is 177mm (6.97") to the outermost part of the caliper. the easiest way would be to measure the I.D. of a spare rim. Hope this helps. feel free to email or call me with any other help you need to get this beast on the road. rob@portal-tek.com

Peter,
Looks good. I'm still very dubious about the cost effectiveness of that diesel engine. It has less power/torque than the B30 and similar fuel consumption. For you, of course it makes complete sense but for guys like me .....

For those looking in, I've got a Command version with lots of whistles and bells but the only thing that irritates me is just how slow the damn thing is.

Richard,

look at the Musso for the engine - all will become clear "if it works"

Back spacing will be a week end task.

cheers.
