Good info in there. I've been kicking the idea of making one for awhile now. Especially since starting a family last year. I've had my eye on one of these. I really like the idea of the base they're at being 15min from the house

You probably won't tow that with a zuk.

I'm not sure you could tow anything with a zuk and like doing so. But I'll have it behind an Xterra so it shouldn't be too bad.

i'm considering making an off road trailer out on an old truck bed, i'd put a camper shell on it, a small propane furnace and insulate it well, think i'll also put a sway control with a quik disconnect so it's not wondering on the freeway and will articulate offroad.would be cheap, easy, and could be pretty cool.

I think you better do more research. The M332 ammunition trailers are VERY heavy for what they are and even have air over hydraulic brakes on them. They generally weigh in at 2,800 lbs empty and are set up to be towed by a much larger vehicle than your little Xterra. If you tow it, it will be nose down and have too much tongue weight and be very unstable. Not to mention you will have no way to control the brakes.

humm is that right?? I wanted to go by the base and look at one before I bought it so I probably would have figured it out then. I was looking for one like that since my trailer rides nose up since I have 4" of lift. But the weight will be an issue so I guess I'll look for something lighter.

I have one of these: http://www.jumpingjacktrailers.com/.

Somewhat limited in off road use because of width and limited wheel travel but excellent for a base camp and can be used for a variety of other tasks.

Mine has been down Baja twice including many miles of seriously rough roads with no problems.

The tent itself is a real 4 season design with heavy, water repellent marine canvas and a simple frame system that holds up very well in high winds.

Not cheap but I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

I have some pics if a red star member wants to post them.

Not a trail trailer but a regular 4x7 I built and put my Autohome on.

I'm gonna sell this trailer and build one on 31-33 with integrated water tank, cooler rack, etc.

7ft is quite long though.

I built this one out of spare stuff around the shop:

Its only 48"x36" on the box + the front tool box, but then again I am towing it with a built Toyota 4runner on 35's with the 3.0L. I needed something light for camping gear. Its incredibly basic, works and tows great. It will have 35s and matching wheels on it by next week.

I've even thought about building these for customers at around $1500-2000 Each.

That seems to look perfect for multi-use. Not to big for the trails, but big enough to carry the gear needed for extended trips.

I bought this from a friend and made a few slight mods. I added the gas can, the jack, handle and rack. Oh and matching 35" MTR's I wish it was bigger but it works great and plus I store my camping gear in it. It's pretty much add food, hook it up and go.

Since I have a truck bed I don't really need the trailer for camping gear. I built it mainly for trail projects, but it also works well for those times you might want to take a bunch of firewood out to the desert. Wheels, tires, etc. are all the same.

Regards,
....Mike
