Junkyard aux. tank for a 01 diesel f250

Any one out there in pirate land know of anyone using a junkyard tank as an auxillery tank that replaces the spare that started life i something else? I priced out one from aero tanks and its $880. Don't have the funds to burn on that right now. My in head measurements say I could throw a suburban 40 gal in there with a ratchet strap and drive around the world without stopping, but that kinda thinking has got me in trouble before....

Thoughts?

Dont remember the frame width differences between my super duty, and my OBS....

BUT, why not find a saddle tank from a diesel F series? grab the valve and solenoid to switch the tanks, etc....

You say your truck is an 01 F-250 so the tank should be in front of the axle, right? If so, look into a fuel tank for a cab and chassis F350 thru 550. they are located behind the axle and should mount in your truck with out too many problems. They are around 40 gallon capacity also.

Called the dealer and your right it'll fit. Now I'm just looking for the smokin deal. Not many pick n' pulls near me and then the odds of finding a chassis cab are slim. To the parts phone!

I'll edit the postings so they're different. From here on out this one will be so I can drive the truck further on camping trips and the other one will be for towing further. There problem solved.
