awesome! I was just going to use the one i had on the ranger, but since it has one, I won't have to change it.

The Redneck Ram hydrosteer arrived today.

Glad to see the Ex going to a good home! That rig has done a lot more than it looks like! You'll dig it, Dan did a great job building it, and others on here will back me up, he doesn't shortcut anything! Good luck on the build and Thank You to you and your family for your service!!!

The Ex is home now. Runs great, looks kick ass, is super comfy, and i am positive it is super capable. Exactly what i was looking for. Taking it to the shop tomorrow to start playing with it.

also picked up a fullsize spare from Reclinaholic, just need to find the right wheel, and get it all done up. Hoping to start on the cage ASAP. Looking to paint it this weekend.

Then took it out to my pops after balancing the tires, and picking up the paint. Then i played up in the shrubs behind the house.

took the Ex back out again today out on my family's property. Its just a little creek wash, so nothing crazy, just a lot of creek crossings. The deepest i crossed was up to the lights

Good thing is that no water came in the doors. Was very surprised by that. Dropped into one hole that swallowed the driver side tire and brought the water to the hood, so i backed up to keep the water away from the engine and so forth.

Death wobble is still REALLY bad. I balanced them with airsoft pellets, but it still happening. Any ideas?

Just the normal stuff. Check tie rods, ball joints, etc. Did the po mention any death wobble? Hydro assist will help with it.

Dan emailed me and i called him. Seems he kept the tires in a certain position. I am going to rotate the tires around and see what that does. He never really had issues except once, and that was when he told me about setting the tires up.

Other than the DW, the only other issues i have is the interior panels need some lovin, which i have a buddy of the family that owns a junkyard, so those little missing pieces are damn near free, so that is on the agenda for monday.

The other issue is the tires are rubbing the links at full lock. To fix it, i am just going to do what i did on my Ranger, which is install some wheel spacers. I have been running them on the front of the Ranger for about a year now, and as long as you check them regularly, they are fine in my opinion

Have you checked the track bar mounts? I have a d44 under my explorer and had death wobble as well. I first though was my clapped out steering was to blame. After I took everything apart to investigate though I found the lower mount had ovaled out a bit. I tightened everything up and it's fine now but eventually i'll have to put a repair kit in.

That causes issues with bump steer, not death wobble.

The tires in a certain position sounds like and out of round tire. Wheel spacers are rough on bearings. Steering stops?

i've been running spacers on my Ranger for a year now and the bearings are fine.

One wheel has a big dent in it, so it could be a bit out of round. Nothing crazy though. I am going to install the redneck ram tomorrow. (Or at least start to) and i know that will help out tremendously

Started installing the Hydro assist yesterday and taking it apart for paint. (BTW, the track rod and drag link were definitely not at the same angle. I think i have them much closer now. Pics will come tomorrow)

Had to remove the spring and shock and spring bucket to get to the steering box bolts, but i got it out.

out with the old.... and in with the new

Then i stripped all the lights and grille off to start masking for paint.

Then i got bored and wanted to see how i liked the paint...

installed the spring and junk again, then started mocking up the ram. I didn't have the plasma or my cutoff wheel or any metal, so i called it quits for the night and prepped and painted the grille and headlight surrounds

today i finished making a mount for the ram, ran the lines, and mounted everything up. I didn't have any fluid, so i have to bleed the system tomorrow. I did get everything masked off but the windows. The trim tape is on, just need to cover the windows. We are going to finish the steering up tomorrow and then focus on sanding and painting to hopefully have this sucker finished by the weekend. More pics of progress tomorrow

this is making me want to scrap my ranger and put the tons under my exploder!! starting to think its a good idea. ranger has 270k on motor, trans, and tcase, only holds 2 people, loses approx 1/2 qt a week due to both main seals being bad. exploder has 98k, runs perfect, can fit my whole family, has a/c, and i have EVERYTHING i need to swap it! hmmmmm....sounds like a really good idea. just need to get the wife something else to drive, and need to get myself another truck.
thanks for the good idea

sorry i have been such a bitch on pictures. i ran over my phone with the moving truck AND the ex so the cameras are ruined, but i ordered some new ones. I lost my actual digital camera in one of my many vehicles or places i lay my head. Therefore, i have no pictures of it painted... Or the ram setup... or the new stuff i got for the broken interior stuff...

I did take it playing a little more on some family land. Found out i can run over/through a barbed wire fence 4 times without puncturing a tire. (Don't ask... I have a shitty sense of direction... Why i own a GPS)

Also found out my drop pitman arm is hitting the ram. This is not good. Going to the JY Tuesday to see what i can find that will correct this problem.

The plan is to raise the whole draglink up 1/4-1/2" using misalignments on the knuckle side, and higher arm on the box side.

Truck also has a really hard starting issue i haven't plugged into yet.

finally have some shots of the ex painted. Still need to raise the drag link, hoping to get that done this week, as we are heading to meet John next weekend.

Im digging the build just wondering what size ram you went with and wether you are using a diffrent pump. And how you like it so far.

not sure on the size of the ram. Matt H. from West Texas Offroad (Prior Marine BTW) set up the whole kit. I'm still using the stock pump though as it was already setup for the Hydraboost, and i didn't want to redo it.

It slows down the steering at times, and i have to drive super slow with the pitman arm that is on there now..... but HOOOO LEEE SHIT.... I can pull the truck up to a post or tree with the tire against it, and turn the wheel towards it, and it pushes the truck sideways. I'm digging it

Any updates on the ride? is it shaking or is it actual DW? Like it's smooth then all of the sudden tries to kill you?
