zf swap, no 4 low

i've been searching for the last 3 months on an answer to this. i swapped in a zf to my bronco....got it running so i can drive it to work daily. 4hi works (i have an electric tcase). cant afford to swap in a manual tcase right now. how do i wire it so the tcase will shift into 4low when i need it?

sounds like this is the same case that was in your bronco previously.

Did it not shift before?

There is a red wire with a white stripe that goes to the park neutral or manual lever position switch that was on the side of the old automatic (Im assuming you swapped the zf for an auto). If you ground that wire it will make the 4wd module think the trans is in neutral and will allow the 4lo shift to happen.

Just make sure you're stopped idling in neutral or with the clutch in before you try to shift so it doesn't tear the transfer case out when you hit the 4lo button. That wire can also be wired to a clutch safety switch if you want to make it work more like factory.

thanks. got it figured out. the red/white wire has to be ungrounded to shift into 4hi and then grounded to shift into 4low. not sure why but when grounded and hit 4hi it does the normal clicking but no shifting. ungrounded it shifts. so im just gonna wire in a simple switch so that i can ground and unground it at will. now if i can just find someone close by with a welder......
