I suggest going to a remote paring lot. Bring a chalk line and tape measure, do some measurements rolling forward and backwards, see what's really moving in that suspension, oh and bring help to hold the other side of the measuring device.

Interesting... Didn't notice this in the swap... does this apply to both the 8600GVW truck and the 5000GVW or Just the 5000?? It is Understandable with the 5k because they are lighter springs but the 8600 Springs are friggin MONSTEROUS!!!

I'm not 100% sure, but these springs were from a '90 diesel with a 8600GVW.

250 (ttb) springs are actually gonna have a higher spring rate because of the way the ttb works like a lever. F350 springs and a shackle reverse will help with the ride.

1. When/if you get F350 springs you'll have to move the panhard bracket.
2. Have you measured it yet? (Standard cab lb should be about 133") 3. 8600lb? Hell mine was 8800lb. ![]() 4. Check the bushings & shackels in the rear, if you have the same rear springs as I do (doubtful) a broken shackel is hardly noticable in ride height and going foreward but the truck will act like a crack whore in reverse. |

About a month ago.....I Discovered all of the bushings were shot... AND I MEAN ALL OF THEM.... (Thank you Energy Suspension) Replaced the bushings in the front end and ended up curing BOTH my Dogleg and the ridiculously rough ride....It does still ride kind of stiff but not even close to what it was... I also finally got tired of another problem I was having regarding a hard starting issue(Its a Diesel) took it to a diesel shop here in Columbus they found 4 faulty glowplugs, A Low voltage problem at the G.P. Relay and an air leak in the fuel system. fixed the low voltage problem with a piece of 6ga battery cable vs the 2 (roughly)10ga wires ford used. They solved the air leak by plugging the fuel return on the filter block and swapping the 2 outlet injector cap on #1 for a single outlet thus bypassing the return on the block... YAY NO MORE HARD STARTS!!!!!! I will admit this... it is SO Friggin Nice having a truck that starts and rides like it should LOL |
