5.4 upgrade
Hey Guys, I have a 2000 SD and an ' 04 f 150 w 5.4s, both run well, both are SLOOOW... to return to idle....You blip the gas and they take forever to return to idle. Is this normal ? How do you fix it? A Mustang doesn't do it. An EB dose'nt do it. A chevy 350 dose'nt do it. What gives? I would like to build up a bad ass 5.4, Any sugestions? Thanks.

My mom's F150 with the 5.4 does the same, I dont see any issues with it doing that.

All newer fuel injected vehicles idle does that. Its for emission purposes.

Pull you iac valve off and make a restrictor plate. I used a aluminum can a couple of times. Basicly use the gasket as a template but on the tb side hole make it 1/4 hole as a starting point. Keep enlarging if you have stalling issues. The 4.6 dohc are horrible with the hanging idle.

Thanks for the tips and video link. The f150 4x4 averages about 13.5 mpg..It has a leveling kit and stock size Nitto a/ts on it. Would headers , tuner, air intake and exhaust make a worth while improvement? Any suggestions? It's a daily driver with Raptor dreams.

Isnt the roush made by eaton? They make most of the superchargers for factory applications. If the price is right, I would also look at whipple. I don't know if they make one but they make good blowers.

Whipples are sick and I want one for the Harley, but for the mud I wanted the reliability of an eaton. theres a 2.3 and a 3.4l wipple also 2.3 and 2.6l kenny bell, whipple has alot better customer service, and better product in my opinion. Quote:
If your that worried about (not you, anybody) Romeo heads (mustang) are 6 thread and half way through '03 they made 8 thread windsor, mainly for the expy and navigators. The old school windsor heads of corse that have 4 thread heads, and the most prone to spitting plugs are most common.
