66 f-100 build

Well, this truck started it's life as a 240 i6 2wd. It got a farm brew engine swap, 351w and a 3spd from a Mach1 (so goes the story).

Bought it for a grand like this when I was 15.


It hasn't changed any...

But last saturday, I came into possession of a 79 Bronco, 400 v8 with a C6. Bought it for the drive train and axles. $275 with a 5 hour one way trip.
My friend actually owns the body and frame. He wants to restore it, but with 3/4 ton axles.



Probably won't be updating this much until the summer. Just made it now so I don't forget later.

Nice, i have an original '66 4x4 and i'm currently making one of my '66 2wd's into a 4x4. I'll keep an eye out for this thread, i'm contemplating making a build thread myself.

I am looking at parts that I need for the engine and would like some input.

Should I go with a 4bbl carb/intake or stay with a 2bbl?

Should I put a manual behind the engine or keep the c6?

Really depends on what you wanna do and what your preferences are. I pulled my good running 250K mile C6 out and converted to an NP435 when I did my 4x4 conversion. I like manuals, wanted to keep the truck simple, and liked the granny low. I personally think trucks with manuals are just cooler, probably because you don't see them anymore; but if you want a stout auto the C6 is the way to go. At car shows I almost expect people to be running automatics (especially the chevy crowd) so I'm not too big on them anymore. Finding the pedal set and other accompanying parts might be difficult for a truck that old if you do go manual.

As far as carbs, it really depends on what has been done to the engine. If it's all stock and you don't need a ton of power, I'd run a Motorcraft 2 bbl because they are stupid simple and run almost upside down.

Well, the current pedal setup is for a manual in the f-100. I could just use the c6 temporarily until I got bored enough for a manual.

Engine is 140k stock with rotted headers and duals.

Seriously, this is one of the most opinionated subjects with no correct answer. Build what you want. I personally think c-6's are horsepower robbing pieces of shit but hey, what do i know.
