power steering ?'s

well i guess i should welcome my self to the world of ford power steering. is it normal for the pumps on ford trucks to whine and increase loudness with rpm levels? at idle its not there but when you accelorate it in creases(only noticiable if stereo is off). i think its low fluid due to teh fact it also louder while turning, it does leak and i havent checked it in a while. just bored at school and though tid ask if it coul dbe anything else? thanks guys! jiMMy oh yeah its an 87 F250

Yes they suck... Read that article that welndmn wrote about converting because if yours leaks now you might as well go that route. It will cost you less in the long run. One of mine leaks and when its cold it leaks even more. Its a major PIA. I just have been lazy and not replaced it though.

Yes they are lould, yes they are junk for turning anything bigger that 31'a and even then................

Swap to a Saginaw pump and be done with it.

the best of the ford pumps is the one for a 92 f250 heavy duty...it's still noisy at times, but it turns my detroit locked 35's at 8 psi, and with a big cooler (all pumps should use one in our application) I haven't had burned fluid probelems

Yes that is a better chioce, but not a direct bolt in for most apps, and if your gona do mods, might as well put in a Good pump. The Sag pump in stock form is leaps and bounds better than the best ford pump.
