I run around 15-18 degree and love it! I also plugged off the vacum advance if you have one, runs much better at highway speeds... I have heard that older fords have problems with the vacum advances..

Your 302 will run best with the most timing it'll tolerate. Get the motor nice and warmed up, put it under a load (ie. a steep hill in top gear) advanced the timing till it starts to ping, than back it off a couple degrees. Also, it'll pull away from a stop cleaner with the vacuum advanced hooked up and get slightly better mileage.

I was going to shoot for 36-42* total but don't think I can get that much. maybe 28-34* total is more reasonable. I am pretty sure 27* total is doable but that means 12* initial. Hope it's ok??
