Post MORE dana 60 ?

I have found an '78 dana 60 from as '78 F250 w/drum brakes, but I haven't seen it in person yet. So here are my ?'s. Should this be an open or closed knuckle, and how hard is it to swap over to disk brakes?
Thanks in advance.

it's its a front with drums, it wasn't orignially in a 78. It's a standard cut closed knuckle 30 spline inner, 19spline outter... only benifit over a D44 is the ring & pinion, & the rest is no stronger than a D44

Here is a pic of the axle. I think your right after I took a closer look. I think it is a closed knuckle 60. Looks like I'll be passing this one up.

Yeah I saw that on Ebay. You don't want to mess with a closed knuckle 60. Thought you had a deal didn't ya

I found a closed knuckle 60 in our military surplus yard, its got 60 stamped right on the houseing, its got drum brakes, and the spring pad is cast into the housing. It has the large military 5 lug pattern, so I believe this dana 60 closed knuckle would have the stronger tractor joints?

The tierod is located behind the axle.

Ive looked into it to convert to 8lug and disk brakes, so whats it worth? I firgure $200 or less then its worth my time.
