Post Dana 24 to N.P. 205

Has anyone done this swap? Mounting same? Driveshaft lenghts same? Both cases are remote. Thanks. PTO DAVE

Dave, the mounting is very similar. In fact I'm using 205 mounts right now with my Dana24. I did have to drill new holes in the crossmember though for the 24. The 205 mounts are slightly farther apart than the 24 mounts. I'm pretty sure the front driveshaft is 2" longer with a 205 than a 24. I bought a junkyard shaft out of a truck with a 205 and it was 2" too long when I put in the 24. The rear shaft worked fine though. Later, Brett

Byerks, thanks for the info.So if I get crossmember from 73 and use on 72 should line up other than 2 inch longer driveshaft.(not to crazy about a longer front shaft) About the PTO yes its hooked to NP435,and has a 3 piece chevy driveshaft going to rear of truck works great been in there about 15 years.Had a hard time finding a 8 bolt PTO box for 24,plus it would hang to low.

Yeah it looks like the pto off a 24 would hang practically straight down, not good. I'd like to put a 205 in mine also, get a slightly better low range. Just have to adjust front driveshaft length. Why are you swapping yours to a 205?
