I am looking into purchasing an EB that has this gear reduction although i don't know much about, etc. Any advice either good or bad is appreciated.

There is nothing shady about the terra low conversion . I wouldn't let that deter you from purchasing an EB with it already installed . <IMG SRC="smilies/jester.gif" border="0"> HOWIEBILT

A Bronco without gear reduction is not good for rock crawling. You can do it, but you will be replacing clutches as fast as you can put them in. The TeraLow kit is not nearly as aggressive as JP Eater gears that can go in the D-20. TeraLow's are 3.15:1 and JP Eaters are 4.69:1. The stock Bronco D-20 has 2.46:1, so 3.15:1 is lower, but you will still want more reduction if you plan on rock crawling. See www.wildhorses4x4.com and look at the cold duck set up for a double.

how does the dana 20 hold up to 4.69.1 reduction? i would like to keep pandoras box closed if possible...

I wouldn't let that deter you from buying it. It should be better than stock anyway. If it did blow up, you could either pick up somebody's used t/c or rebuild yours with whatever you want, or of course go Atlas. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> Buy it. Enjoy it.

The box does seem to hold up. The Rear output shaft is another story. After about 110:1 final ratio, the rear output shaft is under significant stress and appears to be the weak link. I am careful not to hammer the gas...something you should never do that low unless you want to break something, and I carry a spare rear output shaft. They are actually easy to swap on the trail. Only broke one shaft so far and I was...well...altered...if you know what I mean and my foot was doing the thinking. A couple companies are working on stronger shafts, but it appears the bearing would have to shrink so much that it might be a problem Peace! <IMG SRC="smilies/beer.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/eek.gif" border="0">
