Ive decided not to put my Stock setup in my Bronco. Im going to go with a F150 box. They all seem to have the Pitman arm Facing forward though. Ive seen a few guys with the pitman arm facing rear wards. Is there a certain year of box i have to look for? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

You might want to look at BCbroncos.com, they explain this pwr steering setup real well. the pitman arm faces forward on the 4x4 boxes (certain years?), and backward on the 2wd models. The 2wd mounts to the inside of the frame while the 4wd is on the outside, get the outside the frame "4wd" box, and swap in the 2wd inner piston which rotates the opposite of the 4wd inner piston. Oh hell go to bcbroncos tech page, you'll see.

The hybrid box on the BC broncos page is cool that is the way I would go if I was gonna do it again. The F150 box that I think the original poster was refering to is the very comon 2wd F150 swap. This is the very tall box that mounts inside the frame. In it's stock application the pitman arm points forward, and the steering linkage is on the back side of the axle. To make the truck steer in the correct direction with the steering linkage on the front like in the EB you have to move the pitman arm to point back instead of forward. So you just need to flip the pitman arm around after you buy the box. Also if shopping wrecking yards buy a box with FORD cast into it instead of a box with Bendix cast into it. The Ford boxes are supposed to have a bronze bushing on the sector shaft where the bendix boxes have a plastic one. After the plastic gets ruined the sector shaft can bind and break.

I made a ROUGH web page on the BC Broncos swap, the pictures are useful I think. The thing is, I am not so sure that the sector shaft is any larger than the stock EB box. The new nissan frontier box has a larger sector shaft from what I have heard, and bolts in easy, don't know about mating the pitman and the pump though.

What other things do i have to be concerned about? Do i have to shorten the draglink or anyhting? I have a 89 F150 2wd that im parting out. Can i use the inner parts of that steering box on a 4x4 box?

If you have the Stock box already, use it. The F150 box is not that much better and takes time and money to make work. If you are going to make the F150 box to work, I would go with a Toyota IFS box. They are cheap, tons of them, and will handle what the F150 can handle. This is more work than the F150 though. In the end, if it goes bad, you can replace it for about $200.00. I believe the F150 is about $450.00...
All I do is crawl, fully locked and the Toy box is working great. <IMG SRC="smilies/rolleyes.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/beer.gif" border="0">
