im looking at buying an 86f350 4speed with the 6.9dsl the only problem is the tranny the shifter is extremely loose I couldnt even find a gear the owner says he can drive it but its tough. first off does anyone know what might be wrong? secondly he said its a t-19 what could I get one of these out of or would a more common tranny like a t-18 bolt in?????/

Pull the shifter. There is a small dowel pin that keeps the shifter from rotating. My guess is it is worn, sheared, or missing. Easy fix.
